90–92 Blackfriars Road – United Living

Located in the heart of Southwark, London, this mixed-use development replaced two commercial buildings with a high-end residential block comprising 53 apartments and commercial space at street level. Eight of the apartments are designated for rent to local residents, and two are allocated for shared ownership. The building is designed as a series of blocks that step down in height from the street, reducing the overall bulk while aligning with the scale and rhythm of the local context. The modulated plan allows ample daylight into the apartments, nearly all of which have dual aspects and private balconies. Each block features a shared, landscaped roof terrace for residents. A bespoke green glazed brick was developed specifically for this scheme.

Excel Brickwork was responsible for delivering the full brickwork and blockwork packages across the development, collaborating closely with United Living and the wider project team to meet programme requirements and maintain quality standards.
